THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always a pleasure seeing you and in this post, we will discuss THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON.

Solomon was the second son of king David and Bathsheba (the widow of Uriah). Jedidiah was given to him by God through prophet Nathan (2 Samuel 12:25). He was a wealthiest and wisest king according to the Bible and he built the first TEMPLE in Jerusalem. He succeeded his father (king David) as king of Israel and ruled for 40 years before his death. His wisdom is top-notch and can’t be compared with anyone of his generation, he married 700 wives including Pharaoh’s daughter (princess of Egypt), and had 300 concubines.

He was about 15 years old when he was crowned the king of Israel and as a young king, he appointed Zadok as the priest and Benaiah as the army commander.

Solomon made alliance with the king of Egypt by marrying his daughter and they lived in the “City of David” until he finished building his palace, the temple and wall around Jerusalem. After offering sacrifices at the most famous altar in Gibeon, the Lord appeared to him in a dream asking “what would you like me to give you” and Solomon answered “I am very young and don’t know how to rule, so give me the wisdom I need to rule with justice and to know the difference between good and evil”. (1 Kings 3:6–9). The Lord was pleased with king Solomon and gave him wisdom, understanding, honor, wealth more than any other king.

King Solomon judges a difficult case between two women that gave birth to two boys. One accidentally rolled over her son while she was sleeping and the boy died, since it was only two of them in the house, she quietly changed her death son with the living son of the other woman. But when the other woman woke up trying to feed her son, she surprisedly found him dead and after cross checked, she noticed, it wasn’t her son actually and demanded an explanation from the other woman, who refused to accept her evil deed. When the king heard about it, he requested for the living son and a sword intending to divide the living son into two giving each a half. The mother of the dead son accepted king’s proposal in dividing the living son while the real mother showed compassion and said to the king “don’t kill the child because when he grow up, he’ll definitely know who’s his mother”, and the king declared that real mother was the woman who showed compassion and the living son was given to her......when the Israelites heard of his judgment, they were all amazed with his wisdom.

There was peace in Israel as they live in safety and the people were happy and increased both in populations and prosperities, King Solomon appointed twelve officials as district governors to oversee the king’s supplies from each tribes of Israel. They provides food to the king and his household from their region and each one being responsible for one full month. The king had forty thousand stalls for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalry horses. He was famous, wise and he composed three thousand proverbs and more than a thousand songs and his fame was all over the world and kings sent people to Jerusalem to listen to his wisdom.

In fourth year of King Solomon reign, he started building the first temple in Jerusalem (Israel) and it was the 480th years from Israel freedom from the Egyptians. The cedars used in building the temple was supplied by king Hiram of Tyre. He also built his palace and it took him twenty years to finish both the temple and his palace and The Hall Of Forest Of Lebanon. After the completion of the temple, King Solomon invited all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem, to celebrate the brand new temple and “The Covenant Box” was brought into the temple from the “City Of David” and was placed in the Most Holy Place beneath the wing creatures.

King Solomon prayed “you oh Lord have placed the sun in the sky, yet chosen to live in the cloud and darkness and now I have built a majestic temple for you, a place for you to live forever”. King Solomon sacrificed 22,000 heads of cattle and 120,000 sheep for fellowship offerings as the temple was dedicated and the celebration lasted for seven days.
