THE STORY OF PROPHET ELIJAH

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends.it’s a privilege to see you again. Let us take a look at THE STORY OF PROPHET ELIJAH

Prophet Elijah was from Tishbe in Gilead and he was a faithful man serving the Lord wholeheartedly. There was a king who ruled Israel named king Ahab, he was the son of king Omri and his wife’s name is Jezebal, and his palace was built in Samaria. The king built altars for Baal and made the people worship Canaanite deity and God was not pleased with his role in making the Israelites to forget the living God.

Prophet Elijah appeared to king Ahab as the Lord’s commanded after the prophet had prayed earnestly that it would not rain in Israel for the next two or three years as a punishment for idolatry. There was no rain or dew in Israel and prophet Elijah was staying at the Cherith Brook which dried up because of lack of rain, while he was there, he drank from the brook and fed by ravens morning and evening.

Prophet Elijah was meant to leave Cherith Brook and lived with a widow in Zarephath. The prophet said to the woman as she was gathering some firewood “please bring me a cup of water..... and please bring me some bread too” and the widow answered “I don’t have any bread, I swear by the living God” and all I have is a small floor and olive oil...which I want to prepare for my son and I before we starve to death “. Elijah said, “first make a small loaf for me and prepare the rest for you and your son, “for the Lord had commanded you will not run out of food before He will send rain”, and the woman did as the prophet Elijah had instructed.

The widow’s son becomes sick and finally died and he laid the boy on his bed and prayed to God....stretching himself on the boy three times as he continued praying “Oh Lord, restore this boy to life” and the boy started breathing as he was revived. The widow confessed after seeing his son back to life “now I know you are a man of God for I am convinced that God speaks through you”.

In the third year of the drought, prophet Elijah appeared to king Ahab as God had promised to send rain. The drought/famine was terrible in Samaria and on his way to meet the king, Elijah saw Obadiah who was a devout Christian and was in charge of the king’s palace. Elijah said to Obadiah, go and informed your master the king that “Elijah is here” but Obadiah was afraid of the king because he was aware the king had searched for Elijah everywhere but couldn’t find him.

The king said to the prophet “the worst trouble maker in Israel, there you are....I am not a trouble maker declared the prophet. Gather all the 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of goddess asherah supported by Queen Jezebal, the prophet said to the king. So the king summoned all the Israelites and prophets of Baal to meet at Mount Carmel. Prophet Elijah said to the people, how long will you continue to have two options “if Lord is God serve Him and if Baal is god, serve him”. Elijah ordered for two bulls, one for him as a sacrifice to God and the other as a sacrifice for the prophets of Baal.... the bulls were meant to be cut into pieces and put on wood without putting any fire, the duty of the prophets of Baal are to pray to Baal to consume the (bull) sacrifice with fire and Elijah was to pray to God to consume the (bull) sacrifice with fire.

Whichever consumes the sacrifice won the contest and whom the people should worship. The prophets of Baal gets ready their sacrifice and called on Baal to consume it but there was no answer, they danced around the altar they built till noon....Elijah mocked them by saying “pray louder maybe he was day-dreaming or relieving himself, or he is on a trip or sleeping and must be waking up”, they performed their rituals by cutting themselves with knives and daggers with blood gushing out but Baal refused to answer.

Prophet Elijah said to the people “come closer” and he repaired the Lord’s altar which had been broken with twelve stones representing the tribes of Israel and dug a trench around it which can contain about four gallons of water. The prophet placed the wood on the altar and laid the pieces of bull on it and they watered the altar till the trench was full. Elijah prayed “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, proven now that only you is God in Israel and that I am your servant and does these things at your commands” and the Lord sent fire which consumes the sacrifice and dried up the water in the trench. The amazement made the people to drew themselves to the ground and worship God “the Lord is God, the Lord alone is God”they shouted. Elijah took hold of the prophets of Baal and killed them at Kishon brook

The prophet had won a great victory and he said to the king “now go...eat and drink, make merry because I heard the sound of abundance of rain”. Elijah went up to Mount Carmel and bowed down to the ground with his head between his knees. He sent his servant to look towards the sea and the servant went but didn’t see a thing, Elijah continued sending him until the seventh times and he returned saying “I saw a little cloud not bigger than a man’s hand, coming up from the sea”.

Where the king was making merry, he received a message from Elijah, get ready and go home before the rain stop you, and finally it rained heavily. King Ahab told the Queen everything Elijah had done and she was bitter about the killing of the prophets of Baal and sent message to kill Elijah before 24 hours, he fled with his servant to Beersheba in Judah. He was so tired and was sleeping alone when an angel touched him and said “get up and eat”. He eat and sleep again, and the angel brought food to him the second time “get up and eat or the trip will be too much for you” said the angel. After eating the loaf and drinking water, he was equipped with strength to walk 40 days to holy Mount Sinai (where Moses received the Ten Commandments).

The Lord spoke with him and he complained that the people wanted to kill him. The Lord commanded him to anoint Hazael as king of Syria, Jehu as king of Israel and Elisha as his successor. There was seven thousand people in Israel that had not worshiped Baal and God promised to keep them alive. On his way to Damascus, he saw Elisha plowing a team of oxen and he took off his cloak and put it on Elisha, who followed Elijah as his helper.

After the death of king Ahab, king Ahaziah succeeded him and Moab rebelled against Israel. King Ahaziah sent his servants to Ekron to inquire from baalzebub the gods of the Philistines if he will survive the injuries he sustained when he fall from his balcony. The servants were met by Elijah who ordered them to return and informed the king, he will die since he thought there was no God in Israel, and when king Ahaziah heard about Elijah, he sent an officer with 50 men to get the prophet, who was relaxing on a hill. The officer said to the prophet “man of God, the king ordered you to come down”, and he replied “if I am man of God, may fire come down from heaven and kill you and your men”, and immediately fire killed them all. King Ahaziah sent another officer with 50 men and the same thing happened to them and the king was not giving up, so he sent another officer with 50 men to get Elijah. When the third group arrived, they kneeled down and pleaded with the prophet to have mercy on them and Elijah went with them to meet the king.

Elijah and Elisha was in Gilgal, and he said to his servant, wait for him here because I was sent to Bethel for an assignment from the Lord but Elisha refused knowing it’s time for his master to ascend into heaven. Elijah said to him again, the Lord sent me to Jericho, please wait for me here and Elisha replied “I swear by my loyalty to the living God, and to you, I will not leave you”, so they went together. Again Prophet Elijah said to Elisha to stay while he go over to the River Jordan and Elisha refused, so they went together accompanied by group fifty prophets.

As they reached the river, he rolled up his mantle and struck the river and it divides and they crossed on dry ground. Elijah said to him “tell me what you want me to do for you before I am taking away from you” “let me receive the share of your power” he answered. It’s a difficult request but nevertheless “if you see when I was taken, you will receive it but if you don’t see me when I am taken, you will not receive it” Elijah said. They were walking and discussing, suddenly a chariot of fire pulled by horses of fire came between them and Elijah was taken up to heaven by a whirlwind and Elisha saw it and shouted “my father! my father! Mighty defender of Israel! You are gone and he never saw Elijah again.

THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON 2

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, glad to see you again and we will continue our discussion: THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON

As the fame of king Solomon circulate around the world, the Queen of Sheba visited him in his palace in Jerusalem and asked him difficult questions and the king gave her definite answers which impressed the Queen of Sheba. The Queen of Sheba was amazed, breathless and privileged to witness the king’s palace, temple and his servants....as everything was well organized. She brought some presents to king Solomon which includes golds, spices and jewels, and the king gave her everything she asked for including some customary gifts.

King Solomon offers brunt offerings and fellowship offerings in the temple’s altar three times every year and he received more than twenty five tons of gold yearly apart from merchant’s taxes, or tributes. He was super rich and stores his gold in the Hall Of Forest in Lebanon. His throne was covered with ivory and pure gold, the steps leading to his throne was designed like a lion which contains six steps and twelve lions. The back of his throne was decorated like a bullhead and his throne’s armrests was a figure of a lion and such beautiful throne wasn’t in any kingdom. All his drinking cups were made of gold and he had a ship which brings gold, ivory, silver, apes and monkeys every three years.

King Solomon was the richest and wisest king and people come to him from around the world with gifts such as gold, silver, robes, weapons, spices, horses, and mules. He had over fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand cavalry horses and during his days silver was common as stones in Jerusalem. He was into exportation of horses, and chariots from “Musri, Cilicia and Egypt, supplies to “Hittite and Syria.

King Solomon was obsessed with foreign women, he married from Egypt, Edom, Hittite, Moab, Ammon, and Sidon. He was led away by his foreign wives to build an altars and worship other gods and sinned against the living God. Though the Lord appeared to him twice and warned him of the consequences of worshiping other gods. So the Lord said to king Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.

King Solomon was the author of several book in the Bible including “Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon.”

King Solomon challenges started with king Hadad of Edom and he was an evil bitter enemy of Israel. Rezon the king of Syria also becomes an enemy to Israel because of king Solomon’s sins.

King Solomon began to have eternal enemy named Jeroboam who was his official, because the Lord had chosen Jeroboam from tribe of Ephraim to rule other ten tribes of Israel. When king Solomon heard it, he seek to kill Jeroboam but he escaped.

King Solomon lived a good live apart from worshipping of idols, he ruled Israel for 40 years and he was the last king to rule the United Kingdom of Israel, he died at 60, and was buried in the City of David and he was succeeded by his son Rehoboam who’s mother was Naamah the Ammonite.

THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always a pleasure seeing you and in this post, we will discuss THE STORY OF KING SOLOMON.

Solomon was the second son of king David and Bathsheba (the widow of Uriah). Jedidiah was given to him by God through prophet Nathan (2 Samuel 12:25). He was a wealthiest and wisest king according to the Bible and he built the first TEMPLE in Jerusalem. He succeeded his father (king David) as king of Israel and ruled for 40 years before his death. His wisdom is top-notch and can’t be compared with anyone of his generation, he married 700 wives including Pharaoh’s daughter (princess of Egypt), and had 300 concubines.

He was about 15 years old when he was crowned the king of Israel and as a young king, he appointed Zadok as the priest and Benaiah as the army commander.

Solomon made alliance with the king of Egypt by marrying his daughter and they lived in the “City of David” until he finished building his palace, the temple and wall around Jerusalem. After offering sacrifices at the most famous altar in Gibeon, the Lord appeared to him in a dream asking “what would you like me to give you” and Solomon answered “I am very young and don’t know how to rule, so give me the wisdom I need to rule with justice and to know the difference between good and evil”. (1 Kings 3:6–9). The Lord was pleased with king Solomon and gave him wisdom, understanding, honor, wealth more than any other king.

King Solomon judges a difficult case between two women that gave birth to two boys. One accidentally rolled over her son while she was sleeping and the boy died, since it was only two of them in the house, she quietly changed her death son with the living son of the other woman. But when the other woman woke up trying to feed her son, she surprisedly found him dead and after cross checked, she noticed, it wasn’t her son actually and demanded an explanation from the other woman, who refused to accept her evil deed. When the king heard about it, he requested for the living son and a sword intending to divide the living son into two giving each a half. The mother of the dead son accepted king’s proposal in dividing the living son while the real mother showed compassion and said to the king “don’t kill the child because when he grow up, he’ll definitely know who’s his mother”, and the king declared that real mother was the woman who showed compassion and the living son was given to her......when the Israelites heard of his judgment, they were all amazed with his wisdom.

There was peace in Israel as they live in safety and the people were happy and increased both in populations and prosperities, King Solomon appointed twelve officials as district governors to oversee the king’s supplies from each tribes of Israel. They provides food to the king and his household from their region and each one being responsible for one full month. The king had forty thousand stalls for his chariots and twelve thousand cavalry horses. He was famous, wise and he composed three thousand proverbs and more than a thousand songs and his fame was all over the world and kings sent people to Jerusalem to listen to his wisdom.

In fourth year of King Solomon reign, he started building the first temple in Jerusalem (Israel) and it was the 480th years from Israel freedom from the Egyptians. The cedars used in building the temple was supplied by king Hiram of Tyre. He also built his palace and it took him twenty years to finish both the temple and his palace and The Hall Of Forest Of Lebanon. After the completion of the temple, King Solomon invited all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem, to celebrate the brand new temple and “The Covenant Box” was brought into the temple from the “City Of David” and was placed in the Most Holy Place beneath the wing creatures.

King Solomon prayed “you oh Lord have placed the sun in the sky, yet chosen to live in the cloud and darkness and now I have built a majestic temple for you, a place for you to live forever”. King Solomon sacrificed 22,000 heads of cattle and 120,000 sheep for fellowship offerings as the temple was dedicated and the celebration lasted for seven days.

In our next post, we will continue discussing about King Solomon.

THE STORY OF KING DAVID 3

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s good to see you again, we will continue with our discussion “KING DAVID”.

After the death of king Saul and Jonathan, David mourned and lamented for them because he loved Jonathan so much. (2 Samuel 1:17–27). David was anointed king of Judah in Hebron and while Ishbosheth the son of king Saul was made king of Israel (he was 40 years when he becomes king and ruled for two years before his death). There was a battle between Judah and Israel contested at Gibeon....twelve men from Judah verses twelve men from Israel and the twenty four men were killed, the place was named “Field Of Swords”. There was a clashes of power between David’s loyal supporters and those supporting king Saul’s family which go on for a very long time, David continued to gain more territories while king Saul’s family continued to lose more ground. David had six sons in Hebron Amnon, Chileab, Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah and Ithream

After the death of Abber the commander of Israeli army in Hebron, king Ishbosheth was also murdered. The elders of Israel made a sacred alliance with David and made him king over all Israel, he was thirty years and ruled for forty years. He ruled Judah (Hebron) for seven and half years and Israel (Jerusalem) for thirty three years.

King David’s first battle was against the Philistines who came to capture him as soon as they heard he was made king of Israel but the Lord gave David victory over the Philistines. David ordered thirty thousand soldiers to bring the “Covenant Box” to Jerusalem and he had intentions of building a “House For God” (temple) but God spoke to him through a prophet Nathan “one of your sons will become king after your death and he will be responsible in building the temple”. King David was happy knowing his descendants will continue to rule Israel after when he joined his ancestors.

King David ended the control of the Philistines over Israel by attacking and defeating them. The Lord gave him victories over the Moabites, Syria, Edom, Ammonites, Philistia and Amalek. He built military camps in their territories and they became his subjects and pay taxes.

After king David was told about Mephibosheth the grandson of king Saul and son of Jonathan. Mephibosheth was five years old when king Saul and Jonathan died. King David restored everything that belongs to king Saul to Mephibosheth and he dined in the king’s table as one of his sons.

There was a battle against the Ammonites and Jaob was the commander of the Israeli army. Joab leads the battle against the Ammonites and besieged the city Rabbah. King David was on the palace rooftop when he saw a woman named Bathsheba taking her bath in her house. (Uriah was the name of her husband who was in the army). The king sent summons/invite her and made love to her, she becomes pregnant and informed the king. The king sent a message to Jaob asking him to release Uriah to him and it was done as the king commanded. The king asked him, how the battle against the Ammonites was going? The king said to him “go on home and rest a while” and later sent a gifts to his house but Uriah wasn’t pleased and refused to go home but slept with the king’s guards. When the king inquired of his decision, he said “my fellow soldiers were battling, how can I go home to eat, drink and sleep with my wife”? The next day, the king tried getting him drunk but he refused to go home. Then the king sent him back to the battle and sent a message to Jaob through Uriah, commanded Jaob to put Uriah in the frontline where the fight is heaviest so Uriah can die, and the king’s wishes was granted. After the death of Uriah, prophet Nathan came to the palace and said to the king “there were two men who lived in the same town, one was rich while the other was poor. The rich had many cattle and sheep while the poor man had only a treasured lamb. The rich man had a visitor and refused to use any of his abundance of resources to serve his visitor. The rich man overcame the poor man and took his treasured lamb and serve his visitor”. The king was furious about the rich man and said “I swear by the living God, the man who did this ought to die”, and the prophet said to the king “you are the man”. The king said “I have sinned against the Lord “. The prophet said to the king “the Lord had forgiven you and you will not die but the child will die.

After the death of the child, David and Bathsheba had another son named “Solomon” and the Lord loved him so much.

Absalom plots to take over the throne from his father David. Absalom sent messengers to all the tribes in Israel and said to them, “when you hear the sound of the trumpets , shout “Absalom has become king at Hebron”. When king David heard of it, he fled to the wilderness and went to Mount Olives, crying ๐Ÿ˜ญ. The king planted his good friend Hushai in the camp of Absalom, and who deceives Absalom and report back to the king. The king fled as far away as Jordan River and he was pursued by his son Absalom and his men. And finally Absalom was ridding his mule and was passing through under an oak trees, his head was caught by the branches and he died. The king wept for Absalom and wished he died instead of Absalom.

The king returned to Jerusalem with a royal party. As he returned, there was a rebellion from Sheba the son of Bikri from the tribe of Benjamin and he made the Israelites desert king David. He was killed and there was peace in the land. Then king David sang for victory, (2 Samuel 22). The king takes a census which was against the Lord’s command and there was an epidemic in Israel and about seventy thousand people died. The Lord commanded David to build an Altar in Gad and offer fellowship sacrifice. When the people of Gad saw the king and inquired about his visit in their territory, the king said to them, “I am here to buy your threshing place and build an altar for the Lord in Oder to stop the epidemic”, the people of Gad agreed to give the king their threshing place for free including oxen but the king said “I will buy it because I will not offer sacrifices to the Lord my God which cost me nothing”, and he brought it for fifty pieces of silver.

King David was getting older and he got a new wife Abishag from Shunem and she was very beautiful.

Adonijah declared himself king and king David knew nothing about it. The king had made a solemn promise to Bathsheba that Solomon will succeed him as king of Israel. The king ordered prophet Nathan, Zadok and Benaiah to make Solomon ride his mule to Jerusalem and anoint him king and bring him back to sit on his throne. After Solomon becomes king, king David advised him “My time to die has come. Be confident and determined, and do what the LORD your God orders you to do. Obey all his laws and commands, as written in the Law of Moses, so that wherever you go you may prosper in everything you do. If you obey him, the LORD will keep the promise He made when He told me that my descendants would rule Israel as long as they were careful to obey His commands faithfully with all their heart and soul. There is something else. You remember what Joab did to me by killing the two commanders of Israel's armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. You remember how he murdered them in time of peace in revenge for deaths they had caused in time of war. He killed innocent men and now I bear the responsibility for what he did, and I suffer the consequences. You know what to do; you must not let him die a natural death. But show kindness to the sons of Barzillai from Gilead and take care of them, because they were kind to me when I was fleeing from your brother Absalom. There is also Shimei son of Gera, from the town of Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me bitterly the day I went to Mahanaim, but when he met me at the River Jordan, I gave him my solemn promise in the name of the LORD that I would not have him killed. But you must not let him go unpunished. You know what to do, and you must see to it that he is put to death.” (1 Kings 2:2–9).

King David lived for 70 years before his death and was buried in Hebron in the “City of David”.

King David’s wives: Michal, Ahinoam, Abigail, Maachah, Haggith, Abital, Eglah, Bathsheba and Abishag.

These are the names of king David’s children: Amnon, Chileab, Absalom, Adonijah, Shephatiah, Ithream, Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Jerimoth, Japhia, Elishama, Eliada, Eliphalet and Tamar.

THE WORLD

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always a pleasure seeing you. Let’s discuss about THE WORLD.

Just as the Bible described Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God. Is the Jews aware of this, if they were aware of it, why then do they betray or accuse Jesus.

It had already been told/written about the coming of the “Messiah” and they were expecting Him to come from the king’s palace or from a wealthy family but God was wiser than humans.

Christ was born among them, grew up and played among them but when His journey started, He was rejected, betrayed, accused and humiliated. To the people, they were doing the right thing, fighting God’s anointed. “Thinking God will love them more than Jesus but they never knew God’s love to Jesus was eternal”.

They might think, if we accuse Him before God, we will be accepted by God. When you read in the Bible the accusations laid against Jesus, you will realize none makes sense, eg...”it is not right to heal on the sabbath day” “who had right to forgive sins except God” “He said, he will destroyed the temple and rebuild it in three days”.

Just taking few of their accusations, they were doing it intentionally and the Jews even send spies to follow Him and report back to them. If Christ was one of them, they wouldn’t have accused Him but His Devine and “God’s love towards Him is not transferable, negotiable and cannot be manipulated”.

If it were possible for the Jews to write christ off, or transfer His glory to one of them, they would have done it...but it’s impossible for them to do so, that’s why they killed Him.

Nobody personally accused Him of doing him/her wrong because  they all knew He was innocent, they were accusing Him to (before) God but God already knew about the challenges He will encounter before He was sent to the earth and after His mission He was seated at right hand of God.

Our take on this, the world cannot change destiny designed by God.

THE STORY OF KING DAVID 2

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, nice to see you again and we will continue our discussion on THE STORY OF KING DAVID 2.

In an attempt to kill David king Saul offered Merab his first daughter to David as a wife, but David declined “who am I or what is my family that I should become the king’s son-in-law” but the king’s second daughter was in love with David. For the second time the king said to David, “indeed you are going to be my son-in-law” and all I want for her bride price is 100 foreskins of the Philistines as a revenge on my enemies, (the king was thinking David would be killed by the Philistines). The message delights David so much and he took his men against the Philistines, killing 200 men and brought the foreskins to the king before the wedding date. Knowing Michal already loved David, the king had no option than to give her second daughter to David as wife, and David becomes more famous and was successful in his services more than other officials.

David was loved by Israel and Judah but the king was having a sleepless nights because of the throne (what else should he want, rather than the throne). The king could not continue to keep his intention of killing David to himself, he let his officials and Jonathan know about his secret plans but Jonathan informed David and he ran away. The king sent his men to David’s house to kill him but Michal made him escape through the window. David went to meet Prophet Samuel and tell him everything the king was doing and they both went to Naioth in Ramah and when the king heard about it, he sent men to arrest him. But Samuel was leading a group of prophets who are dancing and shouting and the king’s men joined the prophets, the king send another group and still, they join the prophets. For the third time, the king send out his men to arrest David but they all joined the prophets in their rituals and the king saddle his horse and making his way to Naioth in Ramah to arrest David himself but when he sees the prophets, he was overpowered by the spirit of God and he joined the prophets dancing and shouting.

At the “New Moon Festival” Jonathan and David made a solemn promise to each other and when Jonathan finally knew the king is determined to kill David, he said to David, run for your life. Then he fled to priest Ahimelech in Nob who gave David and his men some sacred bread and the sword of Goliath. David went to Gath to king Achish and they recognized him and said to one another “this is the man whom the women sang as they are dancing “Saul killed thousands but David, tens of thousands”, and David becomes afraid and started behaving like a madman in their presence and the king Achish asked his men to chase him away. David fled from Gath to the cave in Adullam and when the people knew he was there, about four hundred men gathered with him, making him their leader. David took his family to Mizpah in Moab and begged the king of Moab to allow his family stay there for a while.

David was told by a prophet to go to Judah and he stay in the forest of Hereth. The Philistines was attacking the city of Keilah stealing their harvested grains and David saved them and king Saul heard that David was in the walled town with fortified gates of Keilah, he called his men to besiege the town and capture David but David escaped before their arrival. David hides in the wilderness of Ziph and Saul was determined to kill him but “God did not turn David over to him”. The men of Ziph went and informed king Saul that David is in their territory and the king went with his men against David in a rocky hill of the wilderness of Maon and they were about to capture David and his men, when the king received a message about the invading of the Philistines and he abandoned chasing David and went against the Philistines....the place is called “Separation Hill”.

When the king had finished fighting the Philistines, he returned with three thousand soldiers to Engedi in search of David, and the king went to relieve himself at “Wild Goat Rocks”, and David was hiding in the same cave and his men said, this is your chance! But David crippled over and cut the piece of the king’s robe and convinced his men that he would not harm his master “the Lord’s anointed”. When the king left the cave, David called him “Your Majesty” the Lord put you in my power to kill you but I chose to spare your life, this piece of your robe is an evidence. The king accepted his wrongdoings and confirmed that “indeed David will be king of Israel” and asked David to make a promise “he will not harm his descendants so that his family name will remain”, and David gave him his promise.

David was in the wilderness of Paran and a wealthy but bad-tampered man from the tribe of Caleb named Nabal and his servants were in the town of Carmel. David sent ten of his men to Nabal with greetings and pleaded for some provisions from the wealthy Nabal since is a season of celebration. Nabal insisted he never heard of David though the country is filled with “runaway slaves” and I will not give him anything. When David received Nabal message, he buckled his weapons with four hundred of his men, and on their way to attack Nabal before he was met by Nabal’s wife Abigail. She offered them two hundred loaves of bread, two leather bags full of wine, five roasted sheep, two bushel of roasted grain, a hundred bunches of raisins, and two hundred cakes of dried figs.

Few days later Nabal died and David took Abigail as wife.

In our next post, we will continue to discuss our King David.

THE STORY OF DAVID

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, glad to see you again. In this post, we will discuss about KING DAVID.

David was the eighth son of Jesse and Nitzevet from Bethlehem in the tribe of Ephraim and he had two sisters Zeruiah and Abigail. He was a young shepherd, handsome with a sparkling eyes, he was faithful, loyal and gained the favor of God. When Saul was still king of Israel God send Prophet Samuel to Bethlehem to anoint David the son of Jesse as king, God had rejected Saul as king because of his disobedience (unlawful offering of fellowship sacrifice and failing to utterly destroyed the Amalekites and their livestock) to God’s commandments. David finally gained fame when he defeated Goliath, the champion of the Philistines but he becomes the envy of king Saul.

When king Saul begin to face challenges as a result of evil spirit sent by God to torment him, David name was mentioned because he was a skillful player of lyre, prudent, warrior and a young man of valor. The Lord was with David and when David arrived in the palace, he was loved by everyone including Jonathan the heir to the throne, he becomes the king’s weapon bearer.

There was a battle against the Philistines and Goliath challenged Israel every morning and evening for forty days and requested the champion of Israel for a single combat. The whole Israeli soldiers were afraid of Goliath because he was over nine feet tall and his bronze armor weighed about 125 pounds with a bronze helmet. He legs was protected by bronze armor and carried a bronze javelin slung over his shoulder. His spear was as thick as the bar on a weaver’s loom and it’s iron head weighed about 15 pounds.

David was sent to the camp by his father Jesse to bring provisions and know about the welfare of his elder brothers serving in the army. David heard Goliath challenged the Israeli army and when the Israeli soldiers saw Goliath, they ran away in terror and said to David “the king had promised to give a big reward to anyone who kills him, the king will also give him his daughter to marry and his father’s family will not pay tax”. David was determined to fight Goliath to take away the reproach and frees Israel from disgrace, he said “who is this heathen Philistines to defy the army of the living God”?. His elder brother Eliab was displeased to hear David talk about his readiness to fight Goliath and he said to David “who is taking care of the sheep in the wilderness,You smart aleck, you just came to watch the battle” but David pay no attention to him as he continued asking other people.

Finally he was brought to king Saul and he said to the king, I’ll fight him and assure the people not to be afraid. The king was surprised and refused David offer to fight Goliath because “David was still a young boy while Goliath had been a soldier all his life”. But David had a testimony “your majesty, I take care of my father’s sheep in the wilderness and whenever a lion or bear carries any lamb, I’ll go after it and rescue the lamb and if the lion or bear turned against me, I grab it by the throat and beat it to death. I will do the same to this heathen Philistines who had defies the army of the living God. If God can save me from the lions and bears, He will also save me from Goliath, declared determined David.

The Lord will be with you said the king to David. The king gave David his armor, helmet and a coat of armor and David could not walk with it because he was not used to wearing them. He took them off, take his shepherd’s stick and choose five smooth stones from the stream and put them in his bag with his sling ready, he went against Goliath.

Goliath with his shield bearer approaches David, and seeing nice looking young David with his sling, Goliath was filled with scorn and asked “do you think I am a dog”? “Come on and I will kill you and give your body to the animals and birds to eat”. David answered, “You are coming against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the Israelite armies, which you have defied. This very day the Lord will put you in my power; I will defeat you and cut off your head. And I will give the bodies of the Philistine soldiers to the birds and animals to eat. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a God, and everyone here will see that the Lord does not need swords or spears to save his people. He is victorious in battle, and he will put all of you in our power.” David rushed towards Goliath and took a stone and slung at Goliath which hits his forehead, breaking his skull and he fell backward on the ground. David having no sword ran to him, stood over him and cut his head with Goliath’s sword, the Philistines all ran away seeing their hero on the ground, and the Israeli soldiers pursued them and looted their camp. David took Goliath’s head to Jerusalem but Goliath’s weapons was kept in his tent.

The Israeli soldiers was returning from the battle and women from every town in Israel comes out to meet king Saul and his soldiers, they were joyful singing and dancing “Saul has killed thousands but David, ten of thousands”. They will be making him king next Saul said to himself and from that day, he hated David and seek to kill him with his spear but David dogged it and it happened on two occasions. Saul becomes afraid of David because he was such a successful leader and the Lord is with him.

The story of king David continues in our next post, it’s a pleasure having you here.

THE STORY OF KING SAUL

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always good to see you and in this post, we will take a look at THE STORY OF KING SAUL.

King Saul was the son of a wealthy and influential man Kish from Gibeah in the Tribe of Benjamin and he was the first monarch in Israel and he reigned from Gibeah. Saul married Ahinoam and they had (sons) Jonathan, Ishvi, Malchishua (daughters) Merab and Michal. Saul was a handsome young man and a foot taller than everyone in Israel. He was anointed by Prophet Samuel who was instrumental in the transition from “Judges to Kingship” in the kingdom of Israel. When the Israelites requested for a king and God revealed to Samuel that He had chosen Saul to be king of Israel.

(1 Samuel 9) Kish’s donkeys was missing and he sent his son Saul and a servant to search for it and they searched through the hill country of Ephraim and Shalishah without finding the donkeys, they continued to the territory of Benjamin and reaching Zuph, Saul said to the servant, it’s better we returned home before my father started to worry about us instead of the missing donkeys. The servant recommend they meet a seer in that city (a seer is used as a prophet in the ancient days) who might tell them the whereabouts of the donkeys.

They were on their way to meet Samuel while Samuel was on his way to offer a sacrifice at the hillside. When they encountered, the spirit of the Lord, administered to Samuel to anoint Saul as a king of Israel, who will rescue the Israelites from the bondage of the Philistines. When Saul approached Samuel, asking him “please, tell us, where does the seer lives” and Samuel replied “I am the seer” and he invited them to the sacrifice. Samuel made mention of the missing donkeys to them and at the worship, they were served the best portion.

They spent a night and the next day on their way back, the servant was instructed to move ahead and Samuel were left alone with Saul, then Samuel reached out the jar of olive oil and poured in on Saul’s head and informed him the Lord had chosen him to be king in Israel and you will protect the people from their enemies. Samuel gave illustrations to him that approaching “Rachel tomb” at Zelzah territory of Benjamin, he will meet two men and they will inform him that the missing donkeys have been found and Kish is worried about Saul and the servant.

Reaching Tabor, you will meet three men going to Bethel to offer sacrifices and they will offer you two loaves of bread and you must accept. At the entrance of Gibeah, you will meet a group of prophets playing harps, drums, flutes and lyrics. When you see them dancing and shouting, the spirit of the Lord will take control of you and you will become a different person and  join them, in these moments, do whatever God leads you to do. Wait there seven days, until I come and tell you what to do, Samuel instructed.

Samuel invited the people of Israel for a religious gathered in the city of Mizpah and instruct them to gathered together in tribes and clan, he uses the Urim and Thummim to select. The Tribe of Benjamin was selected, they gathered in families, and the family of Matri was selected, and as the men of the family of Matri approaches, Saul the son of Kish was selected. Saul was hiding and the people ran and brought him and Samuel presents him to the people of Israel as their king and they shouted “long live the king”. Saul returned home after his coronation and was accompanied by some powerful men.

One month later, king Nahash of Ammonites besieged the city of Jabesh in the province of Gilead and threatened to  pluck out everyone’s right eyes which will be a disgrace to Israel when Saul heard it, he was furious, cutting two oxen into pieces and declared warnings to Israel that anyone who stayed back will be slaughtered like the oxen. Saul gather about 330,000 men from both Israel and Judah and they camped at Bezek. He divided his men into three groups and at dawn, they attacked the Ammonites camp and slaughtered them before noon. The people was so happy with Saul and wanted to kill those who sabotaged his reign. But Saul declined and declared it to be a day of celebration because God had rescued Israel from the hands of their enemies.

They all returned to Gilgal in the house of the Lord and proclaimed Saul as king and offered fellowship sacrifices and the people and the king celebrated.

Now there was a battle between the Philistines and Saul had chosen 3000 men out of two hundred thousand which stayed in the cities of Bethel and Michash. Jonathan (Saul’s son) was assigned with one thousand men to secure the territory of Gibeah in Benjamin and the rest was sent home. Saul was in Gilgal with his men patiently waiting for the arrival of the delayed Samuel to offer the fellowship sacrifice because the armies of the Philistines had gathered in the territory of Michmash and they are ready to attack Israel. There were treble fear among the Israelites and they were all hiding. The men with Saul were trembling and deserted Saul and he was pushed to offer the fellowship sacrifice himself and Samuel arrived immediately. Samuel was displeased with Saul’s inability to obey God’s commandments and said to him “that’s a foolish thing to do” “if you had obeyed, you and your descendants would have ruled Israel forever” “the Lord will find the kind of man He wants and make him ruler of His people”. God gave Israel victory over the Philistines and Saul defeated all his enemies, from Moab, Ammon, Edom, Zobah, Amalek and the Philistines.

The Lord commanded Saul through Samuel to utterly destroyed the Amalekites for the sins they committed against Israel when they came out of Egypt. He was instructed to kill men, women, children, babies, oxen, cattle, sheep, and Carmel without sparing anything. He gathered his men and attacked the Amalekites and defeated them but they spared the king Agag and healthiest livestock. His actions displeased God and regretted choosing him as king of Israel. Samuel was disappointed when he met Saul, because of his disobedient to God’s command. Saul claimed his men brought back the livestock as sacrifice and offering to the Lord, Samuel replied, “which does the Lord prefer, obedience or offerings and sacrifice”. “It is better to obey Him than to sacrifice the best sheep to Him” “because you rejected His commands, the Lord had rejected you as king “.

Yes I have sinned against the Lord and disobey your instructions because I was afraid of my men and did what they wanted. Please go back with me so I can worship the Lord God of Israel, and Samuel refused. Samuel turning back to leave, Saul caught hold of his cloak and it tore, “the Lord had torn away the kingdom of Israel from you today and given it to someone who is a better man than you”, said Samuel. Finally Samuel accepted to go back to Gilgal with him to worship God after he demanded for respect.

Saul been tormented by evil spirit sent by the Lord and David was brought to him to play harps and sings to the king. David was later Saul’s weapon bearer because he likes David so much and he sent a message to David’s father Jesse to allow David stay with him.

There was a battle between Israel and the Philistines, Saul and his men camped in “Elah Valley”. The Philistines had a warrior named Goliath and the Israelites were afraid to face him, he challenges the Israelites and curse them and when he approaches the camp of Israel, they flew in terror. David was sent to the camp to check the welfare of his elder brothers  who was in the battle with king Saul and bring news to Jesse.

David heard the uncircumcised Philistine defile the army of the living God, he accepted to challenge Goliath and Eliab was displeased with David and asked him to go home, but David was determined to take away the reproach of Israel. He faced Goliath and defeated him and the Philistines ran away and the Israelites pursued them. The news of David was all over Israel and they women welcomed the Israeli soldiers with joyful singing and dancing “Saul has killed thousands but David ten of thousands”, and their song was a displeasure to Saul, and he began to hate David and seek to kill him.

Saul use Michal his daughter as a trap to David but he didn’t realize Michal loved David and refused to play the game. Saul requested for a 100 fore-skins of the Philistines as a bride price and David brought 200 foreskins of the Philistines to the king. Saul cannot hide his feelings of killing David anymore, so he told his officials and Jonathan but his son loves David so much and informed him of the king’s secret plan.

David went to Ramah to meet Samuel telling him everything Saul was doing and they both stayed in “Naioth” and king Saul heard it and sent people to arrest David, when the men sent by king Saul saw some prophets dancing and shouting with Samuel being their leader, the spirit of the Lord overpowered Saul’s men and they joined the prophets in dancing and shouting. When king Saul was told about what happened to the men he sent, he send the second batch of men and the third batches and they all joined the prophets in dancing and shouting. He had no option than to journey to Ramah himself, reaching there, the spirit of the Lord took him and he joined the prophets in dancing and shouting.

Saul was determined to kill David because of the kingship knowing that David will become the king of Israel someday. When the king returned from his battle against the Philistines and he heard that David was in the wilderness of Engedi and he took his best soldiers to search for David. There was a rock named “Wild Goats Rocks” where David and his men was hiding in the cave. The king was tired and fall asleep with his soldiers and David approached them, cutting off a piece of the the king’s robe without hurting him. When the king had finished relaxing and set to leave, David calls his attention and bowed down to him, showing him a piece of his robe in his hand.

King Saul heard David was hiding in Mount Hachilah, very close to the wilderness of Judean in Ziph, he hastened with three thousand soldiers to search for David. During the night when the king had fallen asleep and was surrounded by his soldiers, David went to his camp, and struck his spear near the king’s head and David took his water jar and the king’s spear and leave. Then on a safer place on top of the hill, David called the commander of the Israeli army Abner asking him why he could not protect the king, showing them the king’s spear and water jar. The king confessed of doing something wrong and wanted David to come back and I will never harm you again. David left the king’s spear and water jar and leave with his men while the king returned home.

After the death of Samuel, and there was a battle against the Philistines. Saul had already ordered all the fortunetellers and mediums to leave Israel. Saul been terrified by the Philistines seek help from God but there were no response, so he decided to use a medium. There was a woman at Endor  and Saul disguised himself to meet her. Saul said to the woman, consult and call up the spirit of the man I name! The woman not knowing he was the king, was afraid and asked, do you want me to be killed, haven’t you heard the king asked all the fortunetellers and mediums to depart Israel? The king made a solemn promise to the woman and promised her she won’t be punished.

When the woman called up the spirit of Samuel, she realized the person with her is the king, and she asked the king “why did you trick me”, you are king Saul. Samuel asked Saul “why are you disturbing me”. King Saul cried for help and complained that the Lord had abandoned him and does not answer him anymore even through the prophets. Samuel informed him the battle against the Philistines tomorrow would be his last because he will die including your sons. The kingdom of Israel had already been given to David, Samuel said to king Saul. The king was terrified and fall to the ground because he was weak and he had not eaten anything. The woman prepared something for them and they ate and left.

The battle against the Philistines was fought at Mount Gilboa and many Israeli soldiers were killed and the rest fled including the king and his sons but the Philistines caught and killed Saul’s three sons. Saul was hit by the enemies arrows and he was badly wounded, he said to the young man carrying his weapons to kill him, but the young man refused. Saul took his own life because he didn’t want to be killed by the godless Philistines.

The Philistine made a spectacular of the king’s body and his sons, cutting of the king’s head and hanging it and nailed it on the wall in the city of Beth Shan. The men of the city of Gilead recovered the body and burned it at Jabesh, and their bones was buried.

We appreciate your affections, remain blessed.

PROPHET SAMUEL

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always good to have you and in this post, we will discuss about PROPHET SAMUEL

Samuel was the son of Elkanah and Hannah from the tribe of Levite (a descendant of Aaron) and they lived in the city of Ramah. He was the first son of Hannah because Elkanah had two wives, the other wife’s name was Peninnah and she had many children.

Elkanah was a devout Christian and on yearly basis, he took his family to Shiloh to worship and offer sacrifices to the Lord. Hannah been continuously humiliated by Peninnah for been childless, and not been able to conceived, always got Hannah worried, she could not concentrate, eat or drink. Elkanah loved Hannah so much and asked her “am I not worth more than 10 sons to you”? Hannah been grieved in the spirit got up after they had finished having their meal in the house of God, she started crying to God in prayers and the priest Eli was close to her and watched her as she prayed. The priest noticed that her lips were moving but there were no sound, and Eli presumed she was drunk and asked her to stop making a show of her drinking habits, keep your drinks away and be sober. Hannah protested her innocence by telling the priest, I am not drunk or had I been drinking but I am pouring my troubles to the Lord. Go in peace and may God of Israel grant your desires, Eli said.

Elkanah and his family returned to Ramah and God opened Hannah’s womb and she conceived and had a son named Samuel (because she said, I asked him from the Lord). She made a solemn promise to dedicate Samuel to the Lord and his hair will never be cut all his life.(Samuel was a Nazirite). When the baby Samuel weaned, he was taken to Shiloh and was dedicated to the Lord and he was under the guidance of Eli. Hannah will always bring him some gifts and robes whenever they come for their yearly worship in Shiloh

Samuel was faithful, trustworthy and of a good report, as young as he was, the Lord called him and he ran to his master Eli and said “sir, you called me, here I am” and Eli asked him to go back to bed, I did not call you. Samuel had never spoken with the Lord before and he went back to bed and the Lord called him the second time “Samuel! Samuel! And he rushed to his master and still got the same answer from Eli. The Lord called him the third time and he went to Eli and Eli realized it was the Lord’s call and advised him what to say in case the Lord calls him again. As Samuel was lying down on his bed, the Lord called him for the fourth time, and Samuel answered “speak Lord, your servant is listening”. And the Lord talked with Samuel about the sins committed by Eli’s sons and the there will never be any sacrifice or offerings that will erase the consequences of their sins.

Eli was eager to meet Samuel in the morning and find out what the Lord spoke to him about and Samuel was afraid to tell him but Eli encouraged him to speak up and Samuel tell him everything, “He is the Lord and will do what seems best to Him” Eli confessed.

Samuel begin to grow physically, mentally and spiritually, his news were all over Israel that he hears from the Lord and the people respect him so much.

After the death of Eli, the Philistines terrorized and humiliated Israel and they cried to the Lord for mercy/help. Samuel said to the people to get rid of their fake gods and return to the living God with their whole heart, dedicate yourselves to God and He will rescue you. Israel got rid of their fake gods and worship the Lord. Samuel gathered the Israelites at Mizpah and they fasted for the whole day and made sacrifices to the Lord. The Philistines camped to attack Israel but the Lord thundered from heaven against them, they becomes confused and ran away in panic, the Israelites pursed them killing them on the way. Then Samuel erected a large stone in between Mizpah and Shen as a memorial, and named it “STONE OF HELP”. It was on record that as long as Samuel lived, the Philistines was not able to invade the land of Israel, and they returned all the lands and territories they captured from Israel. Samuel ruled Israel in peace and every year, he goes round the cities making peace and settling disputes, he built an Altar in his home in Ramah.

Samuel had two sons named Joel and Abijah and aging Samuel appointed his sons leaders in Beersheba but they were not faithful like their father (Samuel) and the people of Israel despised them because they collect bribes and was not honest in their judgments. The elders of Israel took counsel and meet Samuel in Ramah and asked him to appoint a king for them so they can be like other nations. Samuel was reluctant to their request because he was displeased but God commanded Samuel to listen to the people. So Samuel explained to the people the rights and duties of a king, warning them of the negative consequences that might arise but the people pay no attention. The Lord said to Samuel “by this time tomorrow, I will send you a man whom you will anoint king to rule over my people Israel”.

There was a man in the tribe of Benjamin named Kish and he had a son named Saul. Saul was a handsome young man and a foot taller than everyone in Israel and he was chosen by the Lord to the king of Israel. When Samuel met Saul, the Lord said to him “this is the man, anoint him” and Samuel poured an olive oil on his head and the spirit of the Lord took hold of Saul. Samuel instruct him on the events that will take place and how he will approach each of these events. Then Samuel call the people together at Mizpah for a religious meeting and asked them to gather themselves together in tribes and come forward. When the tribes started coming forward, the tribe of Benjamin was chosen and they were gathered by families and the family of Matri was chosen, and the men of the family of Matri comes forward, Saul the son of Kish was chosen as king of Israel but he was not in the gathering. Saul was hiding but the people brought him out and Samuel presented the new king to the people and they shouted “long live the king”. Samuel wrote a book which explained the rights and duties of a king and it was deposited in the holy place. Everyone went home, Samuel returned to Ramah and Saul to Gibeah and some powerful men accompanied him while some worthless men despised and murmured against him without offering him a gift.

There was a celebration in Gilgal after Saul defeated the Ammonites and Samuel said to the people, I have done what you asked me to do and here is your king. As for me, I am old and gray, I have been your leader from my youth and my sons are still here with you. If I have done something wrong, please say it before the Lord and the king, have I take anyone’s donkey or cow, have I cheated, oppressed or collected bribe from anyone?, if I have done any of these things, I will pay what I have taken. The people shouted “you are innocent”. And Samuel continued by accusing the people that they disobeyed God and worshiped fake gods. He gave the people a sign of what will happen to confirm that God was angry with them “though it was a dry season but he prayed and God send rain and thunder the same day” and the people were terrified and pleaded for forgiveness. Samuel tell the people the Lord had forgiven them but they should not go back to their old ways and worship fake gods because if the do, the Lord will be against them and will allow their enemies to invade Israel. The people went home and dedicated to serve God wholeheartedly.

The Lord commanded Samuel to inform Saul to go against the Amalekites and utterly destroyed everything including men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, ox, donkeys and Saul took his soldiers against the Amalekites but spared the king Agag and did not destroy the best livestock and they brought those valuables to Gileah and the Lord regretted for choosing Saul as king of Israel. Samuel confronted king Saul after learning of his disobedience, Saul claimed those livestock are to be sacrificed to the Lord as offerings. Samuel asked him, which one is better “OBEDIENCE OR SACRIFICE AND OFFERINGS”. Saul pleaded for forgiveness as he had accepted his sins but as God commanded Samuel and he said, “God had rejected you as king because you rejected His commandments”.

Samuel turned to leave, Saul still pleaded hold his cloak and it tore, Samuel said to him “the Lord had torn away the kingdom of Israel from your hand today”. Samuel ordered to bring forward the trembling king Agag and said to him “your sword had made many mothers childless and today your mother will be childless”, he cuts king Agag into pieces in front of the altar of God in Gilgal. Samuel returned to Ramah while Saul returned to Gibeah and they never saw each other again, though he grieved for Saul.

There was a man named Jesse from Bethlehem and the Lord commanded Samuel to anoint one of Jesse’s son named David as king. But Samuel was afraid of Saul and he was instructed by the Lord to go as if he wanted to offer sacrifices in the region of Bethlehem and invite the family of Jesse. When the men of Bethlehem saw Samuel, they were trembling and asked if it’s a peaceful visit and he said yes. Samuel said to the people of Bethlehem, purify yourselves and come to the sacrifice and Jesse’s family was invited. When Samuel saw the the first son (Eliab) of Jesse, he was convinced he was the chosen king but God warned Samuel not to look at the outward appearance because He’s judgement differs from human Judgement. Jesse called Abinadab, Shammah and others making it seven sons but none of them were chosen by the Lord. Samuel asked, is these all your sons? Jesse replied, the youngest is in the field taking care of the livestock and we will not offer any sacrifice until he is here, said Samuel. A handsome, healthy young David arrived with his sparkling eyes and the Lord said to Samuel “this is the one—-anoint him” and Samuel poured an olive oil on David’s head and the spirit of the Lord took control of David.

Samuel lived a good life and was considered a prophet like Moses. He died in a good old age and was buried in the city of Ramah.

A HIGH PRIEST ELI

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s always good to see you and in this post, we will be discussing about A HIGH PRIEST ELI.

Eli was a Levite, from the generation of Aaron and he was a High Priest in Israel and he lived in the city of Shiloh, in the land of Canaan. Eli had two sons Hophni and Phinehas, who were also priests, but they are not faithful, they sins in the house of God by sleeping with the women that work in the church. They requested for the best portion of meat from the sacrifices offered in the house of the Lord, and the people complained bitterly about it, though Eli was aware of his children misbehavior, he wasn’t able to stop them. Though he chastened them but they continued in their sinful characters which resulted in a punishment/curse from the Lord, Eli’s male descendants will all die before old age, according to a prophecy by a man of God.

Eli was sitting in his rightful place by the door in Shiloh, while a woman named Hannah was praying soberly asking God to give her a son whom she will dedicate back to God. Eli watched her and noticed that her lips were moving but there were no sound, he thought Hannah were drunk and advised her to stop drinking and she protested her innocence and informed the priest, she is pouring out her trouble to the Lord and in response, Eli blessed her “go in peace and may God of Israel gives you what you have asked of Him”.

Hannah, got pregnant and had a son, named Samuel (because she said, I asked him from the Lord) and he was a “nazirite” and grew in the temple in Shiloh in Eli’s guidence. Each year Hannah will bring robes to Samuel and he began to grow and serving God, one day young Samuel was sleeping in the sanctuary and there was the sacred “Covenant Box”. The Lord called Samuel and he ran into his master’s room, thinking it was Eli who called him, though Eli is now old and almost blind. The Lord keep calling Samuel and he keeps running to Eli and Eli will advise him to go back to bed, I did not call you, It happened in three successions and Eli realized it was the Lord’s call, informed Samuel what to answer in case he heard the same call. When the Lord finally called the fourth time, young Samuel replied, “speak Lord, your servant is listening”, and the Lord spoke with Samuel concerning the consequences and punishments to Eli’s family.

The next morning, Eli trying to find out what the Lord told Samuel but he was afraid to tell his master but later explained everything to Eli and Eli said “He is the Lord and will do whatever seems best for Him”.

There was a battle between Israel and the Philistines, and the Philistines prevail against Israel, killing about four thousand Israel soldiers. The elders of Israel held a meeting and agreed on bringing the “Covenant Box” to their camp because they believed the Lord will save them with it. Eli’s two sons (Hophni and Phinehas) brought the “Covenant Box” and the Philistines still prevail against the Israelites killing thirty thousand soldiers including Hophni and Phinehas....and the “Covenant Box” was captured.

At the hearing of the news, Eli fell backward from his seat and died, he was 98 years and ruled Israel for 40 years.

It’s always a good pleasure knowing you are there, thanks for your affections and best wishes.

THE STORY OF SAMSON

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, our topic: THE STORY OF SAMSON

Samson was Nazirite, the son of Manoah born in Zorah from the tribe of Dan. He was a judge in Israel and God equipped him with supernatural powers. He achieved some many extraordinary feats including killed a lion with his bare hands, killing a thousand men with a jawbone of a donkey, with his strength, he pushed down the temple building containing five Philistines kings including about three thousand people.

What is a Nazirite: is a miracle child to an infertile spouse and a Nazirite is not meant to drink alcohol, cut his hair, or touch/near unclean things, for example corpse.

Samson was born when the Philistines were ruling over the Israelites, for 40 years and the Israelites were humiliated by their enemies. The Lord’s angel appeared to Manoah’s wife, and tell her she will have a son whom will be dedicated to the Lord and God will use him to rescue Israel from the hands of the Philistines. The angel instructed her not to drink wine or beer or eat forbidden food because she will deliver a “nazirite”. Finally, she had a son and they named him Samson and God bless the child as he grew.

Samson saw a Philistine young lady that he loved and he informed his parents to get her as wife but they forbid him, advising him to marry from their clan or tribe, they never knew it was God’s direction.

Samson told a riddle to the Philistines and they were unable to get the proper answer and the Philistines threatened to burn down the father’s house of Samson’s wife, if she did not trick Samson in revealing the riddle before the appointed day(7 days). This is the riddle “out of the eater came something to eat, out of the strong came something sweet”. She begged Samson to reveal the riddle but he refused and she continued nagging till the appointed day and Samson had no option but revealed it to her before the time and she tell the Philistines. The riddle answer “what can be sweeter than honey? What can be stronger than a lion”?

Samson was furious when the Philistines revealed his riddle and he knew everything and said to them, “if you have not been plowing with my cow, you wouldn’t know the answer now”. The Lord’s spirit made him strong and he killed 30 men in Ashkelon, striped them of their valueables and gave to the people that solve his riddle, his wife was later given to his best man during his wedding.

Samson was so angry and he burned up the both harvested wheat and the one that are still in the field, he achieved it by using three hundred foxes. Samson fled to the region of Judah and hidden himself in a cave, and 300 men of Judah tied him with ropes and hands him over to the Philistines. God gave him strength that broke the ropes into pieces and killed a thousand Philistines with a donkey’s jawbone. When Samson cried to the Lord for been thirsty, the Lord opened the ground and water gushed out and the place is named “Hakkore”.

Samson always making the headlines, went to the region of Gaza, and went in with a prostitute and the Philistines surrounded the place waiting for him at the city gate, they wanted to kill him. At midnight, he pulled out the city gate and carried it on his shoulder.

There was a woman named Delilah, she lived in the city of Sorek Valley and Samson fell in love with her. When the news was everywhere, the five kings of the Philistines went to Delilah and promised her eleven hundred pieces of silver each. They wanted her to trick Samson into revealing his power/strength and she began to do her best in tricking and betraying Samson. She keeps trying to get Samson revealed his power but at no avail and one day Samson got tired of her continuous questioning and said to her “my hair has never been cut, and I was dedicated to God as a nazirite from the time I was born, if my hair were cut, I will lose my strength and be as weak as everyone else”.

Then Delilah sent for the Phillistines kings and they brought the money, they promised her and after tricking Samson and lulled him to sleep in her lap, Samson’s hair was cut and he lose his strength and they began to torment him. The Philistines captured him and put his eyes off, chained him and put him in the prison in Gaza.

It was a celebration for the Philistines and they offered great sacrifice to their god Dagon, as they all gathered in their temple singing victorious song over Samson. They brought Samson to make fun of and entertain them, and the five Philistine kings were present including over 3000 people. Blind Samson was led into the columns (pillars) of the temple, though his hair was growing and Samson prayed to God to give him his strength one more time, and his strength was restored, he pushed down the two columns that is holding the temple and the whole building collapsed, killing everyone.

His body was taken by his family and buried in the tomb of his father and he ruled Israel for 20 years before his death.

THE STORY OF JEPHTHAN

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, great to see you again, let’s discuss “THE STORY OF JEPHTHAN.

Jephthah was the son of Gilead from the clan of Gilead, in the tribe of Manasseh, and the Bible described his mother as a prostitute, he was forced to leave his family by his siblings and was told there is no inheritance for him. He fled to the city of Tob and when  there was a battle between Israel and the Ammonites but Israel had no leader/commander, so they persuaded Jephthah to leader the battle against the Ammonites, he accepted with a condition that “he will be their leader, if God gave him victory over the Ammonites” and Israel agreed.

He was made the leader of Israel and in the city of Mizpah he began to rule in God’s presence. He made a vow to God before going to war against the Ammonites and he was able to fulfill his vow. “He vowed to sacrifice the first person that comes out from his house to welcome him once he is victorious against the Ammonites”.

Israel camped and attacked the enemies, and they were able to conquer 20 cities and the Ammonites were defeated. When Jephthah returned home, it was her only daughter/child who came to welcome him with dancing, excitement and she was playing the tambourine. It was a great displeasure to him and he tore his clothes but insisted he won’t take back his vow.

The daughter pleaded for a grace of two months to enable her mourn her virginity and wander in the mountains with her friends before she died. It was a custom in Israel till date that their women were to go out four days in each year to grieve for the daughter of Jephthah.

There was a battle between Gileadites and the Ephraimites and with the help of Jephthah, the tribe of Ephraim were put to the sword  and about 42,000 Ephraimite were killed.

Jephthah lived a good life and ruled Israel for six years, when he died, he was buried in Gilead his hometown.

THE STORY OF GIDEON

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s good to see you, we will talk about THE STORY OF GIDEON

Gideon was from the tribe of Manasseh and his father’s name was Joash and they reside in the city of Ophrah. He was a prophet of God and a judge in Israel, he was also an army commander, he was a true leader and he had the fear of God. He was the least among his brethren and was not recognized in his clan but God had another view because He doesn’t see like humans.

It happened that the Israelites had sinned against God, forsake His commandments, and God allowed the Midianites to terrorize them for seven years. The Midianites was so powerful that the Israelites abandoned their homes and lived in calves, and whenever it’s harvest season, the Midianites will come and take everything from the Israelites and destroyed the ones they couldn’t carry. It becomes tough for the Israelites to survive and then, they cried to God for help.

(Judges 6:11) when Gideon was threshing some wheat ๐ŸŒพ secretly because he fears the Midianites, God’s angel appeared to him sitting under an oak tree. The angel greeted him in an usual way “the Lord is with you, brave and mighty man” and he was shocked and asked, “if the Lord is with us, why had all these calamities befallen on us”. He was equipped with the strength to rescue the Israelites from the hands of the Midianites, and God had promised to be with him.

Gideon wasn’t so sure, so he asked for a prove of God's will by three miracles, he rushed in cook a young goat and made bread, and presented it to the angel and it was consumed by fire and the angel disappeared and then two signs involving a fleece, performed on consecutive nights and the exact opposite of each other. First waking to his fleece covered in dew, but the surrounding ground dry. Then the next morning, his fleece dry but the surrounding ground covered in dew.

His first assignment was to burned down his father’s shrine (clan shrine) and built God’s Altar, he did all in the night with the help of his ten servants because he fears his father and those shrine worshipers. When it was day, the shrine worshipers wanted to kill Gideon but Joash, defended Gideon, insisting the god should fight for himself.

Gideon was taken over by God’s spirit and he assembled the men from Abiezer his clan and the entire tribes of Manasseh, Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali. More than 30,000 men gathered and it was too much because God does not want them to think, it was by their power they defeated the Midianites. Later, 20,000 men went home and still 10,000 was much for the battle, God instructed Gideon to take his troops to the river to drink and anyone who lapses the water like dog is qualified and those that keel down to drink were to disqualified. 300 men were qualified for the battle, and the strategy wasn’t to fight because God had already given the Israelites victory.

Gideon gave his 300 men trumpet ๐ŸŽบ, jar ๐Ÿบ, and torch. They were divided into three groups and when they had surrendered the enemies camp, they blew their trumpet and broke the jars, and the enemies were terrified and God made them to fight and kill themselves, few ran away and the 300 men pursued them crossing the river Jordan. The two kings (Oreb & Zeeb) were killed by the tribe of Ephraim.

After the great victory, the Israelites asked Gideon to be their leader and he ruled Israel for 40 years in peace.

Gideon had 70 sons and many wives with a concubine from Shechem, she was the mother of Abimelech. (Judges 6, 7 & 8).

Thanks so much for your affections and remain blessed.

HEARTFELT TRIBUTE

It already one year since you left this sinful world and it seems like yesterday. You left too early, some many times, I used to wonder why you have to go and I found myself wandering into the imagination of uncertainty.

Yeah it’s painful and as human, I turned around if there’s a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear but all I could get was numerous excuses, anger, quarrel, then I found solace in Isaiah 43:2.

Favour keep asking of you, I could remember when we came back from the mortuary after depositing you...I looked into her eyes, there was so many questions to ask but all she could muster was *why didn’t my mom come back* . Tears ๐Ÿ˜ญ runs down my cheeks and I realized you have gone forever.

I did my best to save you but it wasn’t good enough. Yeah I know they took you to weaken me, to cause me much grief and pain, they wish I die in misery but God have never forsaken me, He still making better ways for me.

If the devil can send his demons ahead to do all these evils.
God’s abundance grace is much better because His angels are already on mission to rescue the innocent. Romans 5:17b

I wish it was a mere journey, you go and come back later but God is all knowing. Everyone you know misses you and praying you come back but the bitter truth is, you are not gonna back to us but we are to join you some day.

You have left your mark.
You created a vacuum no one can replace.
You are truly irreplaceable to me, to Favour, to your parents and siblings, your family and friends, to everyone you know.

Continue to rest in God’s blossom till we meet to part no more.

THE STORY OF PROPHETESS DEBORAH

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, it’s a pleasure to see you, in this post, we will discuss THE STORY OF PROPHETESS DEBORAH

Prophetess Deborah was the fourth Judge of Israel in the pre-monarch era, she was a fearless patriot and a wise heroine. She was a standout warrior and the ONLY FEMALE JUDGE in Israel and the name of her husband was Lappidot. She lived in the city of Ramah and Bethel in the region of Ephraim. (Judges 4).

The Israelites disobeyed their God after the death of Ehud and God allowed the Canaanite to conquer them and they were violently ruled by the king of Canaanite (king Jabin) for 20 years.

Deborah being a Prophetess, and someone who hears from the Lord and prophesied the victory over king Jabin and Sisera the commander of his army. She instructed Barak, the Israel general from the city of Kedesh in Naphtali, informed him that God want Barak to gather ten thousand men from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun. Barak was unable to accept because of the terror/fear of the king of Canaanite, but Barak declared I will only participate in this battle once you (prophetess) is/are involved (going with us). Deborah accepted, but declares that the glory of the victory will therefore belong to a woman, and the army commander Sisera was killed by Jael, being a female.

As God commanded, the Israelites were victorious over the Canaanite and there was a great joy in Israel. She ruled Israel for 40 years and there was peace in Israel.

In Judges chapter 5, Deborah and Barak sang the victory hymn and thanked God for giving them victory over their Canaanite adversaries.

THE STORY OF JOSHUA

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, good to see you again and we will be discussing the STORY OF JOSHUA

Joshua was the son of Nun, born in Egypt to an Ephraimite, his name was Hosea but Moses called him Joshua and it reminded his name till date. He was Moses’s assistant and then his successor, and he was among the twelve spies of the Israelites sent by Moses to survey the Canaan land. He gave a good report with Caleb and as such received his promise that he will enter the Promise Land. (Numbers 13)

He was young when the Israelites departed from the land of Egypt and he was faithful, courageous, determined, humble, deserving, and a wise man. He was in charge of the team/soldiers that fought and defeated the Amalek in Rephidim. He proved to Moses his desire to be trustworthy, loyal and faithful, Moses took him wherever he goes and he was with Moses when he ascended Mount Sinai to discuss with God, and received the Ten Commandments. He handled most of the affairs for Moses in his absence and did extremely well in all the things that was committed to him.

Deuteronomy 31:14&15&23. After the death of Moses, Joshua was chosen as his successor and he led the Israelites in conquering and taking possession of the Promise Land, he also allocated territories to the 12 tribes of Israel.

(Joshua 3&4) The River Jordan parted for the Israelites and they were able to walk on dry ground and they took 12 stones from the middle of the dried River Jordan as a memorial statues as God commanded. (Joshua 5) Joshua circumcised the male children of Israel in Gilgal and spent until the wounds were healed and they were able to observe “Passover” in Gilgal.

Now the Lord sent an angel as the Commander of the Lord’s army to Joshua as they near Jericho. Note, Jericho was a fortified city and was strictly locked because of the Israelites but God gave Joshua a strategy to conquer it. The cities wall collapse as the Israelites walk around the city seven times, gave a loud shouts  and blowed their trumpets ๐ŸŽบ. (Joshua 6).

(Joshua 8) The Lord commanded Joshua to take his soldiers to battle against Ai and the Israelites defeated Ai and took their possessions. Joshua built an alter at Mount Ebal and they offered Burnt offerings to the Lord.

(Joshua 9) The Israelites was deceived by the Gibeonites and they made a solemn promise with them but they later found out about the Gibeonnites deceptions, they turned them into slavery and they were slaves in Israel till this day.

(Joshua 10) The Israelites captured five kings of the Amorite (Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon). And the Israelites gained more territory by defeating and destroying the Makkedah.

A notable event took place in Gibeon when Joshua asked the Lord to command the sun and moon to stand still and it was in record that the sun did not go down and Joshua and his soldiers were able to finish their attacks on broad-daylight. The Lord fought for the Israelites and hurled huge hailstones from above that killed more Canaanite.

Hebron (formally Arba) was given to Caleb for his faithfulness in obeying the Lord God of Israel when he brought an excellent report when they spied the land of Canaan. Joshua, assigned other territories to other tribes of Israel as the Lord commanded.

(Joshua 24) He gathered the Israelites together at Shechem and instructed them to choose the god they will serve and said, as for me and my family, we will serve the living God. And the people agreed to serve the Lord and the people pledged their loyalty to God.

Joshua lived a good life and died at 110 years and he was buried in the city of Timnath Serah in the northern part of Mount Gaash.

THE STORY OF AARON

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ friends, good to see you again and in this post, we will discuss about THE STORY OF AARON.

Prophet Aaron is an Israelites and from the tribe of Levi born of Jochebed and Amram. Aaron had two siblings Miriam and Moses. He was the first high priest and founder of priesthood in Israel. Aaron received from God a monopoly over the priesthood for himself and his male descendants. His priesthood was established during his first Altar Offering and the glory of God appeared on all the Israelites and there was a fire from the Lord that consumed the Brunt Offering and the fat, the people was amazed when they saw what happened, they shouted and fell on their face and worship Him.

He was first mentioned in the Bible in Exodus 3:14 and was a spokesman to Moses during the Israelites freedom fight from the bondage of the Egyptians. He was with Moses when he confronted Pharaoh and he was the person that told Pharaoh to let God’s people go, so they can serve the Lord, their God. In the presence of Pharaoh, he threw down his magic rod (walking stick) which turned into a snake and swallowed up the snakes from the Egyptians magicians. Exodus 7:12.

The Egyptians Water turned into blood: (Exodus 7:20) When he raised his magic ๐Ÿช„ stick and struck in the surface of the river and the whole river turned into blood.

Frogs: (Exodus 8:6) Aaron holding up his magic stick over the rivers, canals and pools brought multitude of frogs in Egypt and covered all the land of Egypt including the palace.

Gnats: (Exodus 8:17) when he struck his magic stick on the ground, there was gnats in the whole of Egypt.

Aaron and Moses increases the punishments as the Lord commanded and these includes.

Files: Death Of Animals: Boils: Hails: Locusts: Darkness: Death Of First Son:.

In the wilderness, there was a battle between Israel and Amalek, the instructions given to Moses by the Lord was to hold up the “Rod Of God” so that Israel will prevail and when Moses hands get tired, and needed support, it was Aaron and Hur that held his hands.

The people pressured Aaron to make a “golden calf” for them to worship because Moses had taken too long when God called him to Mount Sinai. And God was furious about it and near wiped away the Israelites but Moses intervened.

There was a rebellion against Aaron and the rebels were swallowed up by the earth as a punishment. Numbers 16:41. Aaron saved the people by standing between the dead and the living when the Lord’s anger was upon the people and He wanted to wipe them out because of their rebellion against Moses and Aaron.

Aaron married Elisheba the daughter of Amminadab of the tribe of Judah and these are the names of their children: Eleazar, Ithamar, Nadab and Abihu.

Aaron lived a good life, he died aged 123 at Mount Hor (Deuteronomy 10:6) and Eleazar his son was his successor.

It was recorded that Zechariah and Elizabeth the parents of John the Baptist are generations of Aaron.

Aaron was venerated as a saint by the Eastern Orthodox and Maronite churches, and he shared a feast day with Moses celebrated on September 4.

We appreciate your time, wait for our next post.
